Newport Gas Settlement

United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island
Case Nos. 1:19-CV-00643 and 1:19-CV-00642

Welcome to the Settlement Website for
Newport Gas Settlement

A number of residents, property owners and businesses – the “Plaintiffs” – in Newport and Middletown, Rhode Island (the “Class Area”) sued, among others, The Narragansett Electric Company (“Narragansett”), National Grid LNG LLC and Algonquin Gas Transmission LLC for damages they suffered from an interruption of natural gas supply event on January 21, 2019 (the “Incident”). Plaintiffs and Defendants have reached a Class Action Settlement (the “Settlement”).

The Settlement creates a $1,946,712 Settlement Fund. After Court-approved costs and fees, including attorneys’ fees, the remainder of the Settlement Fund will be used to compensate people and businesses covered by the Settlement, called “Class Members.”

You are a Class Member if you resided in a dwelling, or operated a business in, the Class Area on January 21, 2019 that was a customer of Narragansett whose natural gas service was interrupted on January 21, 2019. As a Class Member, you may be entitled to compensation from the Settlement Fund. The terms of the Settlement are described more fully below.

Your legal rights are affected whether you act or not. Please read this Notice carefully.
